My sister is a single mom. She is AMAZING, juggling work, school events, soccer, homework and still managing to keep my nephew fed, clothed, and wearing really cool kicks. We normally do Sunday supper together, but Mother’s Day means putting in a little extra effort to make supper really special. This year, it also meant scrubbing down my outdoor furniture wearing awesome pink rubber gloves, but that’s neither here nor there.
I had a lot of fun putting this together. I dug into my (ridiculously extensive) vintage sheet collection and pulled out two complimentary prints: a simple light green print and a lovely blue and green dogwood floral. I used them to make the embroidery hoop chandeliers and also cut into strips to tie around the napkins. Simple white mums arranged in tight masses and a few candles made up the centerpiece. A pretty embroidered initial marked the lady of honor’s seat. My simple white linens and pieces from my (ridiculously extensive) glass collection rounded out the table. Some detail pictures are below. Tomorrow, the menu and the hilarity that ensued when my nephew and the handmade details met at the table.
